What Do I Have to Lose...

The woman with the issue of blood.

Trusting God beyond natural ability

We all know or have once heard the story of the woman with the issue of blood. No one knows her name, but we will give her an identity today and call her Lilly. What was Lilly’s issue? She was bleeding non stop. For us women, imagine a menstrual cycle that lasted beyond 5 to 7 days. Lilly had to be drained, exhausted, and weak.

She had to be tired of being isolated because of her issue. Lilly dealt with this issue for 12 years. Over a decade. It wasn’t one of those issues where she had control of it, or a moment where a little self pep talk would make it all better. I could imagine her saying, “ok girl let’s get our mind right.” I know I’ve used that phrase a time or two. Lilly was down to the end, literally her last. She went to doctors, tried this and that, spent all of her money and nothing, I mean absolutely nothing stopped her bleeding.

At this point Lilly had no other tangible resources, but deep down inside she had hope. I don’t know for sure, but she had too, because she didn’t stop trying to receive a healing. Year after year after year after year she kept pushing. Does this sound like you? Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Let’s take a quick look into Mark 5. When Jesus came across the lake to another region, He met a man that was demon possessed. Jesus healed him. People saw what He had done and they ran to the town and countryside and started telling people what happened. They then started to come out to see for themselves. This scared the people. Now you know our girl Lilly heard that Jesus just healed the crazy man in the graveyard. Lilly had to think if he can heal him surely there is hope that he can heal me.

Jesus left that region and crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake. Because the news traveled far, the crowd was there waiting when Jesus arrived. One of the church leaders Jarius came and told Jesus about his sick daughter and asked him to come heal her. Jesus went with him.

THIS IS THE MOMENT WHERE LILLY BECOMES RELENTLESS

As Jesus traveled with Jarius a large crowd still gathered around them. Lilly was in that crowd, but too many people were ahead of her that she couldn’t get close enough to tell Jesus about her problem. That’s when her FAITH stepped in. I could imagine, Lilly saying, “what do I have to lose!” She pushed her way through and touched Jesus. Mark 5 :27-28; When she heard about Jesus she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes (garment), I shall be made well.”

IMMEDIATELY, Lilly stopped bleeding. The scripture said in verse 29, the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. PRAISE BREAK!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus realized power had gone out from Him. He stopped, turned around and asked who touched his clothes! People were crowded all around and the disciples said to Jesus, “everybody‘s touching you.” Jesus knew different and kept looking around. Lilly felt so convicted she came and fell at Jesus feet, and humbly told Him the whole truth.

Jesus said to Lilly, “daughter your FAITH has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your suffering. PRAISE BREAK!!!!!🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

Just like that she was Free! Sis, what a story!! When have you said “what do I have to lose?” When has your faith taken over and you were relentless to be healed from whatever you may suffer from? We have to make this our promise. God’s promise to us is yes and amen! I encourage you as I encourage myself. Keep hoping, keep praying, and keep believing! What do you have to lose!!

Hugs and Kisses
