God, You Promise?

When I was younger I remember saying to a friend you promise, pinky promise. I laugh at that now because how can little ole pinky hold a promise. I looked up the definition of this myth we as children held so tightly to. It said, to pinky swear, or to make a pinky promise, is a traditional gesture most commonly practiced amongst children involving the locking of the pinkies of two people to signify that a promise has been made. The gesture is taken to signify that the person can break the finger of the one who broke the promise. OUCH!
How often we don't trust what someone may tell us that they may or may not do, until we gesture it by doing silly things.
Yesterday we experienced alot of rain where I live. With rain it's often followed by a rainbow. The picture you see is an actual shot of the rainbow that kissed my eyes on yesterday. I always think of the promise God made to Noah after he brought the flood. Genesis 9 starting at verse 8-17 says,
8 Again, God said to Noah and his sons:
9 I am going to make a solemn promise to you and to everyone who will live after you. 10 This includes the birds and the animals that came out of the boat. 11 I promise every living creature that the earth and those living on it will never again be destroyed by a flood. 12-13 The rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every living creature on earth. It will remind you that I will keep this promise forever. 14 When I send clouds over the earth, and a rainbow appears in the sky, 15 I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures. Never again will I let floodwaters destroy all life. 16 When I see the rainbow in the sky, I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature. 17 The rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise.
God gave his word to Noah. There was no pinky twisting, hand shaking. God's word was enough. That's often how we can miss our God because we don't trust his word. In the world they say my word is bond. In the word God's word is his promise.
Sis, there are 8,810 promises (7,487 of them being promises made by God to humankind). Who do you know that can make that many promises to you and keep them too? NOBODY! Our God is sovereign and He loves us unconditionally. Now like any father his rod (belt) and staff will comfort you. Don't forget He is forever in control. While we live our purposed life here on Earth let's rise up and believe in the promises of God. Stay obedient to his word and honor Him with our life. He deserves it. Here are a few promises to keep a mental note of...
Peter 1:4
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Matthew 11:28-29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Proverbs 1:33
But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm."
John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
To sum it all up, 1 Cornithians 1:20-22 msg version says
20-22 Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete.
You: God, You Promise?
God: Yes, you have my Word. Glory Hallelujah!!! Take time to treasure the promises of God! I love you.
Hugs and Kisses 💜
